Draupadi Murmu won the President election on July 21, 2022 and became the first Tribal President of India and the 15th President  of the country with the swearing - in on July 25, 2022. Draupadi Murmu 's rival in election was Yashwant Sinha. She is the 2nd Women President of India after Pratibha Patil. She was born on 20 June 1958 in Baidaposi village of Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. She belongs to the Santhal Community. Her father's name is Lt. Biranchi Narayan Tudu and husband's name is Lt. Shyam Chandra Murmu. She done her graduation in arts from Ramadevi Women's College (Bhubaneswar, Odisha). She joined BJP in the year 1997 and started her political Career as Councillor of Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat. Draupadi Murmu, a two- time MLA from Rairangpur seat on a BJP ticket, became the Minister of state (Independence Charge) for Commerce and Transport in the Odisha Govt.  In year 2000.
